Brookhaven Town Hosts Substance Abuse and Addiction Program

Supervisor Romaine and Brookhaven Youth Bureau Host New Trends in Substance Abuse and Addiction Program On May 1st, Supvervisor Ed Romaine and the Brookhaven Youth Bureau hosted the “New Trends in Substance Abuse and Addiction Program” at Brookhaven Town Hall. The program was conducted by Long Island Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependency Executive Director, Steve Chassman. Topics covered during the program included:
  • How you can help a teen become more aware of the substances within their community;
  • How you can help decrease the likelihood of alcohol and drug dependency within your community;
  • What the effects are of CBD Oil on teens and adults;
  • How the possible legalization of marijuana could affect prevention of drug use in our teens.
This year the Youth Bureau has held three Substance Abuse Education Workshops for Parents. Approximately 200 parents, guardians and social workers have attended these workshops. Funding for the program is provided by a legislative grant through New York State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle.
