THE CLYDESDALES ARE COMING

The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales are coming to Patchogue this Wednesday evening! This Wednesday, October 10th, the Budweiser Clydesdales will be trotting down main street in Patchogue. The parade will begin at 5pm and last for approximately two hours. Attendees will be able to see eight Budweiser Clydesdales and the Budweiser Dalmatian. The parade route begins at the Blue Point Brewery, will go down the south side of Main Street, then turn back down the north side of Main Street, ending back at the brewery. Along the route the celebrated horses will be stopping by several bars and restaurants to deliver cases of Budweiser beer. Most locations on Main Street will be offering specials in honor of the event. It was reported that the last time Clydesdales trotted down Main Street was about 25 to 30 years ago. At that time Clare Rose, a local distributor for Anheuser-Busch, was located on West Avenue. The Clydesdales have been a part of the Anheuser-Busch brand since the early 1930’s. The Clydesdales functioned as an important part of the company distributing beer by wagon in the early 20th Century. A Dalmatian accompanied the horses and wagon to protect the animals and goods while they traveled. Although the horses are no longer a part of Anheuser-Busch’s distribution, they remain a symbol of the iconic brand and their heritage. The Budweiser Clydesdales currently reside at the Anheuser-Busch breweries in St. Louis; Merrimack, New Hampshire, and Fort. Collins, Colorado where they can be seen by the public. Visitors can also see the Clydesdales up-close at Warm Springs Ranch, the Budweiser Clydesdales breeding establishment in Boonville, Missouri, and at their training facility on the grounds of Grant’s Farm in St. Louis. Both attractions are open seasonally. Grab a friend or the family and come out to Main street this Wednesday evening! Fun Facts 1. They first appeared in the Super Bowl in 1986, and have since appeared in more than 25 Super Bowl commercials for the company! 2. To get the Clydesdales ready for appearances, a whole team of expert handlers, trainers, and groomers oversee their care. 3. Each horse will eat as much as 20 to 25 quarts of whole grains, minerals and vitamins, 50 to 60 pounds of hay, and up to 30 gallons of water on a warm day.
