Earth Day 2019- Protect Our Species!

Today, April 22nd, Earth Day is being celebrated across the globe.  It is a day dedicated to remind us that the Earth and its ecosystems provide us with life and sustenance.  Earth Day also recognizes a collective responsibility to promote harmony with nature and the Earth. Our planet is home to millions of species that we know and love, and many more we have yet to discover. Unfortunately, human activity has disrupted the balance of nature. The world is facing the greatest rate of extinction it has seen since we lost the dinosaurs more than 60 million years ago. But, the rate of extinctions can still be slowed, and many of our declining, threatened and endangered species can still recover if we work together. Through immediate and collective action, extinction won’t become humanity’s most enduring legacy. When we come together, the impact can be monumental. Go green by making small changes that add up to a big difference. Commit to earth-friendly acts, make more sustainable choices, reduce your carbon footprint, conserve energy and resources, collaborate on environmental projects in your community, and share your acts of green to help educate and inspire others to join the movement! Our choices and actions each and every day can help influence the protection of our species, the reduction of waste, and the conservation of energy. Together we can support this years Earth Day theme of Protect Our Species! Visit the Earth Day Network website for resources and to learn how you can take action. Did you know?
