Kindhearted Donations Help Veterans During Easter

Brookhaven Town Receives Kindhearted Donations to Help Veterans in Need During Easter Holiday Farmingville, NY – On April 18, Supervisor Ed Romaine met with members of Local 1500 Suffolk Retirees Club at the Veterans of Foreign War Post 2913 in Patchogue to thank them for their heartwarming contributions of food to help veterans in need in Brookhaven Town. Club members collected fifteen large boxes of non-perishable food. Employees from Brookhaven Town picked up the food and distributed it to VFW leaders to ensure it would be given to veterans and their families in time for the Easter holiday.   This is the third time within the past year that the Suffolk County Local 1500 Retirees Club has collected a large amount of food and contributed it to Brookhaven Town’s Division of Veterans Services. On November 16, Supervisor Romaine honored the Suffolk County Local 1500 Retirees Club with a proclamation at the Henrietta Acampora Recreation Center in Blue Point after club members dropped off nearly 20 large boxes of food to help veterans in need in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. In June 2018, the club contributed several boxes of food to the Town of Brookhaven’s Division of Veterans Services Veterans Food Drive.   “Your generous efforts have truly made a difference for so many veterans and their families.” Supervisor Romaine said to the club. “You have provided our veterans with food and lifted their spirits by letting them know there are people in our community who are thinking about them and care about all the sacrifices veterans have made for our country. It is an honor to have the Local 1500 Suffolk Retirees Club as part of the Brookhaven community.”
